In honor of Fox’s Grease: Live!, we look back at the tradition of casting full-grown adults, and passing them off as high school students, in this American classic. Perhaps West Side Story set a precedent in 1957, but Grease has always asked us to suspend our disbelief that the amazingly talented students of Rydell High are barely old enough to drive…despite plunging chest hair, and bust lines.
The 1978 film was no exception, with the majority of casting over 25 years old. But which star was the most “mature” during filming?
A. Jeff Conway – Kenickie
B. Stockard Channing – Rizzo
C. John Travolta – Danny
D. Didi Conn – Frenchie
E. Olivia Newton-John – Sandy
